Before we get started with the introductions, I suppose I should warn you that I have a case of what I like to call “creative wanderlust”, which is possibly a nice way to say that I have creative ADD, but we’re going to go with MY version and say that I just really love anything that fosters my creativity. That being said, I’m hoping to infect you with creative wanderlust (in a good way). I want to ignite a spark in you to create beautiful things, to color outside the lines and I want to encourage you to find your own creative path, whatever that looks like to you.
Now that we have that out of the way…I can tell you a little about me. It’s difficult for me to sum myself up in a couple of paragraphs, but as you read my posts, you’ll get to know me much better. After all, if a person could be summed up in a page, let’s face it, they’re kind of boring to begin with. That being said, “Hi… I’m Jeanne, and I’ll be your guide. Please keep your hands and legs inside the ride at all times…” Yes, I am a complete dork, but bear with me because if you do, I will guarantee you’ll have fun!
Now, for a Cliff Notes version of me, Jeanne….
I am fortunate enough to call beautiful, Austin, Texas, home (If you’ve never been here, it’s just as cool as people make it out to be… so come!)…Wait.. maybe.. just come and visit. LOL!
By day, I design jewelry, for my line, Urban Posh. I must say that creating beautiful jewelry is still my first love. It fills me with so much joy to see someone enjoying a piece that I designed. Through the years, I’ve had the priviledge of seeing my designs in some of the best boutiques and top fashion magazines. I’ve made some incredible friends through my trips to various trade shows, most of them being in one of my absolute favorite city, New York. I still adore creating jewelry as much as I ever did, but I found myself longing for more.. I wanted to create other things. At the time I started Urban Posh, I almost started a bakery (waking up later than 4am won out…), so I love baking and the culinary arts. I just needed to create… EVERYTHING……
Then, I got my first saw…. From that point on, I turned into a DIY addict. My first project was an outdoor sectional made out of 2×4’s scoured from the reject piles of local construction sites. I honestly just wanted to see if I even “could” build a piece of furniture. I knew I could make jewelry, but this was SO different. Not to say that I didn’t make some mistakes, but in the end, I’d also made a huge outdoor sectional by hand. The sense of empowerment and accomplishment was overwhelming and I was hooked. One DIY led to another and when enough friends expressed an interest in knowing how I’d made the things I had, I decided to create a blog.
This is a blog about my life and a journey through creativity!
