9 Cake Inspired Cocktails
Happy Friday Everyone! I’m sure you’re as happy as I am that it’s Friday, so to welcome the weekend! Anyone that knows me, knows that I’m not a huge fan of alcohol that taste like…well… alcohol. I am, however, a fan of alcohol that tastes like something else, like say… dessert. It’s kind of like how they disguise medicine for little kids in flavors like bubble gum or grape, right? Ok… not the same thing, but you get the idea. If I am going to drink, it had better taste like something decadently sinful. So, in honor of the weekend AND dessert lovers everywhere, I’d like to give you 9 amazing cake inspired cocktail recipes! Drinking dessert HAS to be the perfect way to celebrate the weekend, right? Now, in order to make sure we all understand… these are in fact drinks… strong drinks… so while they taste amazing, they are deceptive little things. These babies pack a mean punch, so please don’t drink and text or call anyone. I’m only speaking out of concern for you and the blackmail in the saved text and/or voicemail that may haunt you later… Do I speak from experience? Hmmm…. I plea the fifth on that one, but, if you ever meet Aaron, you can feel free to ask him how very well I can serenade one with my rendition of Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” via a late night phone call from New York. Hey… don’t act as though you’ve never done anything like that in your life. The very fact that you’re reading this post… means you’ve probably burst into singing either “Sweet Caroline” or “The Piano Man” at some point in your life. If not… I’m sorry, but maybe you should, because it’s a lot of fun! Perhaps, after you have your cake and drink it too, you will join in on the karaoke action…

Tres Leches Caketini
3. Tres Leches Caketini
Tres Leches is one of the richest, most decadent cakes ever! The milky, sweet, creaminess is almost sinful, when melded with the delicate flavor of cake. This “caketini” courtsey of Snappy Gourmetis too good to put into words. I suggest you make it and let me know a word appropriate for the kind of delight this drink will bring to your taste buds.

4. Red Velvet Cake Martini:
First appearing on the dessert scene in the 1940’s, the Red Velvet Cake was a favorite during World War II. This wonderfully delicious cake jumped back into the spotlight in the year 2000, when the Magnolia Bakery “re-popularized” the classic. Since that time, the Red Velevet Cake has become a darling of the dessert world and has recently appeared in cocktail form! This recipe from Wicked Good Kitchen taste just like the real thing!

Ingredients:
• 2oz Smirnoff Iced Cake flavored Vodka
• 1oz oj
• 1oz pineapple juice
• top off with club soda
• garnish with sprinkles, cherry and orange slice

Birthday Cake Martini
6. Birthday Cake Martini:
I couldn’t possibly do a post dedicated to cake inspired cocktails and not include the Birthday Cake Cocktail. That would just be an injustice… alcohol abuse… and… dessert abuse! This recipe brings me back to childhood with the playfully fun sprinkle rim, while adding the perfect adult cocktail touch. My favorite recipe for this libation can be found on Freutcake! Trust me and mix this one up… you won’t be disappointed!
